Five people were injured in a house fire on New Jersey Avenue in East New York.

The FDNY was on the scene shortly after it started around 5:30 a.m.

The fire started in the basement and worked its way up the two story muti-family home.

Officials say a total of five people were injured, three suffered minor injuries and refused to go to the hospital. Two other people with serious injuries are being evaluated by EMS.

Close to 80 firefighters and EMS are on the scene to help.

The FDNY says it notified fire marshals for an investigation.
