Remedy Entertainment debuted the gameplay reveal trailer for Control Resonant during Sony’s State of Play yesterday evening, depicting a twisted version of Manhattan as protagonist Dylan Faden navigates the shifting landscape while tracking a powerful new enemy.
The supernatural-charged sequel to 2019’s Control is being co-financed by Annapurna Pictures and is co-producing alongside Remedy as part of a strategic partnership. In the game’s warped version of Manhattan, Dylan wield supernatural powers that allow him to navigate spaces that are no longer bound by the rules of physics, including areas known as Gravity Anomalies.
Dylan is able to wield an otherworldly, shapeshifting melee weapon known as the Aberrant, which is able to transform into multiple forms. As such, this affairs players a diverse toolkit to shape their approach to combat, and new forms of the Aberrant can be unlocked as you progress, alongside new supernatural abilities and talents.
Dylan must wield the Aberrant to help battle the game’s most powerful boss enemies, known as Resonants. Resonants are remnants of powerful individuals, now corrupted and twisted by the same mysterious force threatening reality itself. Defeating these dangerous enemies allows Dylan to expand his supernatural arsenal, with their defeat unlocking brand-new combat abilities.
Control Resonant is due out in 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
