ROSEDALE, Queens (WABC) — Firefighters and nearby neighbors responded to a house fire in Rosedale, Queens early Thursday morning.

The fire broke out in the rear of a home on 147th Drive just after 1:20 a.m., officials say.

Lenny, a neighborhood resident, was driving home when he spotted the flames. His best friend of 27 years, Jonathan, ran out of his home to help.

The men rushed into the home to help and called 911.

“He was outside honking on his horn, so I thought something was wrong, and the neighbor’s house was on fire. We were able to go inside and make sure nobody was in there. We called the firefighters, they showed up in less than 10 minutes and they got it all under control. So we just bust. My house didn’t get on fire, his house neither,” Jonathan said.

“Shoutout to the FDNY for keeping us all safe,” Lenny said. He estimated the FDNY was on the scene within five minutes.

The men are best friends and have lived in the neighborhood for 27 years.

“Thank God nobody was hurt and hopefully they figure out what started this fire so it doesn’t happen again,” Lenny said.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.

Firefighters doused the flames upon arrival and quickly brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
