CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Vermont (1-0) defeated Queens (1-1) on Friday afternoon at Queens Sports Complex. Eight different Catamounts registered at least a goal as Vermont starts the 2026 lacrosse campaign off with a victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Catamounts started the game on a 5-0 run. Cullen Decker scored the first goal of the season, followed by two from Ethan Pearson. Max Frattaroli and Max Goldstein each added a goal as the Catamounts carried a 5-0 lead into the second quarter.
Harrison Josloff extended the lead to 6-0 with his first goal of the season.
Queens responded with three straight goals from Will McKay, Lincoln Huskey, and Ben Dorbish to cut the deficit to 6-3 with 4:24 remaining in the first half.
Vermont answered before the break, as Sean Stevens and Matthew Drimmie scored to give the Catamounts an 8-3 halftime advantage.
The Catamounts opened the third quarter on a 6-1 run, stretching the lead to 14-4 by the 3:30 mark.
Queens closed the quarter with two goals from Carter Petersen to make it 14-6 entering the fourth.
Vermont sealed the win with a 3-2 edge in the final quarter. Josloff, Sean McCeney, and Goldstein each scored to secure the 17-8 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Pearson and Frattaroli led Vermont with four points apiece, each finishing with two goals and two assists.
Josloff and Goldstein recorded hat tricks.
Decker and McCeney each added a goal and an assist, while Walter Zhao, Luke Reiter, and Matthew Drimmie also scored. Jack Combs, Sam Bowen, and Zack Toll recorded assists.
Zhao controlled possession at the faceoff X, winning 19 of 22 attempts and collecting a team-high 11 ground balls.
Bowen and Aneel Ward both led the team with 3 Caused Turnovers on the day.
Vermont held a 26-14 advantage in shots on goal.
