NEW YORK (PIX11) – Get ready, New York City. Another weekend of cold weather and snow is likely to hit our city starting tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

The anticipated weather conditions have prompted a Winter Operations Advisory by the New York City Department of Sanitation. The New York City Emergency Management Department has also issued a cold blue alert, which is in effect from 4 p.m. through Saturday morning.

What to expect this weekend

Starting Friday, there is a chance of snow dusting the city. The low is expected to reach 28 degrees, according to the NWS.

By Saturday morning, the high is expected to reach 42, but wind chill values will be between 25 and 35.

Sunday is shaping up to be partly sunny. However, another light sprinkling of snow is likely by Sunday night.  In total, accumulations are expected to be no more than an inch according to the Probabilistic Winter Weather Forecasts.
