AUTO RACING
Competing in a full-time ride in the NASCAR Truck Series for the first time, Chesapeake native Brenden “Butterbean” Queen finished seventh in Friday night’s race at Daytona International Speedway, the Fresh From Florida 250.
Queen was one of 23 drivers in the field of 37 to complete all 102 laps. He was the highest-finishing Dodge Ram driver in the brand’s first NASCAR competition since 2012.
Chandler Smith surprisingly won the race, which went to overtime and included daredevil Travis Pastrana and five full-time Cup Series drivers. An early wreck took out legendary Tony Stewart, Queen’s teammate for a night, who was making his first appearance in a NASCAR national series race since 2016.
Also, YouTube sensation Garrett Mitchell (aka Cleetus McFarland) lost control and hit a wall.
