Two Upstate New York women are facing assault charges after allegedly stabbing three women at the Walden Galleria on Friday evening, according to Cheektowaga police.
Lakeya Richerson, 22, and Joshalyn Paul, 21, both of Buffalo, used knives to assault three women during a fight on the lower level of the main concourse, police said. Officers responded to the incident at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Both suspects were charged with three counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. They are being held pending arraignment.
The three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment and evaluation, according to police.
Pyramid Group, which owns the Galleria, said in a statement Saturday that the incident was isolated and that the involved individuals know each other. The company said there was no ongoing threat to the public and the shopping center remained open during normal business hours.
Officers quickly located the individuals involved and took two people into custody, according to the statement.
The Cheektowaga Police Department is continuing its investigation. Pyramid Group said it is fully cooperating with authorities.
