STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A police officer was injured Friday night when a driver sped away during a traffic stop, police said.
The 120th Police Precinct officer suffered an injury to his left foot, according to a spokesperson for the NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Public Information.
At about 7 p.m. on Feb. 13, police observed an individual operating a gray Lexus sedan with no rear license plate in the vicinity of Richmond Terrace and North Burgher Avenue, West Brighton, police report.
Officers attempted to conduct a lawful car stop. However, the individual operating the vehicle failed to comply and fled the location, causing the injury.
Police didn’t identify the officer. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing, the spokesperson reported on Sunday afternoon.
