A new search trends study has revealed that New Yorkers are among the most likely in the U.S. to forget when Valentine’s Day actually is.
Research by cream charger supplier SupremeWhip analyzed Google search behavior to find the states in which people are most likely to need a digital reminder before Feb. 14 — and therefore are the states most likely to forget Valentine’s Day.
The data shows that only one state stands well ahead of New York when it comes to searching for the date of Valentine’s Day: Alabama.
In fact, it ranks in a league of its own — with far higher search volumes than any other state.
Here’s how the top of the list looks based on searches per 100,000 residents:

After the top five, the figures begin to drop more gradually. Mississippi records 511 searches per 100,000 residents, followed closely by Kansas (507), Arkansas (487), Texas (481), and Iowa (464), rounding out the top 10 most forgetful states
“Valentine’s Day might be the same date every year, but the search data shows plenty of people still need a last-minute reminder,” said a spokesperson for SupremeWhip. “It’s a clear sign that romance is often planned in a hurry, with many turning to Google just days before Feb. 14.”
