STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The Staten Island Academy Tigers capped their league season in commanding fashion on Sunday, rolling to an 88–31 victory over Friends Seminary to clinch their third consecutive undefeated season and ACIS championship.
SIA power forward Valentina Li set the tone with a dominant all-around performance, erupting for 33 points and pulling down nine rebounds while controlling the tempo on both ends of the floor.
Guard Alyssa Lopez also added 23 points and sparked the defense with seven steals, turning pressure into transition opportunities. Rita Moschella contributed 14 points, helping fuel a balanced and efficient offensive attack that overwhelmed Friends Seminary from the opening tip.
The Tigers’ depth was equally impactful. Adrianna Savary and Carly Factor combined for 10 points off the bench, maintaining the team’s intensity and pace. In the paint, Sam Swenson and Chloe Factor anchored the interior, teaming up for 11 rebounds and limiting second-chance opportunities to secure the Tigers’ dominance on the boards.
With the win, Staten Island Academy improves to 19–3 overall and shifts its focus to the NYSAIS tournament, where it has earned the No. 1 seed.
The Tigers will host No. 8 seed Rye Country Day on Thursday, February 19 at 5:00 p.m., aiming to extend their championship run and build on an already historic season.
