Queens Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman, chair of the Higher Education Committee, discusses Metropolitan College’s emergency management training and micro-credentialing programs.
She expressed concerns over rising tuition and student debt, particularly the impact of reduced federal graduate loans on professional degrees.
Hyndman advocated for a state loan program to offset these federal cuts, and mentioned the Excelsior Scholarship, which helps students attend SUNY and CUNY schools tuition-free.
Hyndman said there’s a need for continued state investment in education.
