STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Floor & Décor — a warehouse-format specialty retailer that offers an in-stock selection of tile, wood, stone and other flooring accessories — will open its first Staten Island store later this month.

Located at 98 Richmond Hill Rd., the store, which has been under construction for six months, will fill the freestanding space formerly occupied by Macy’s Furniture Gallery in New Springville. According to signage posted on the store’s doors, the grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26.

“The Floor & Decor brand is bolstered by a local focus that allows us to create a store experience and mix of products that meet the needs of each market we serve,” the company noted on its website. “We empower our store managers, or chief executive merchants, to create a local shopping experience.”

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Atlanta, the brand was recently identified as one of Fortune’s 100 fastest-growing companies. In addition to a variety of flooring products, the store also offers design services and installation.

Built in 2003, the building operated as Macy’s Furniture Gallery for a little more than 20 years. It shuttered in March 2025, one of 66 Macy’s locations to close as part of the company’s “Bold New Chapter” regrowth strategy — a plan that will axe 150 stores by 2026. It is a separate entity from the Macy’s department store in the Staten Island Mall, New Springville, which is still open for business.

Floor & Décor did not respond to a request for comment about the grand opening, but the store’s website also noted that the location will be open later this month. The site is among a group of new tenants set to occupy the Staten Island Mall property. TJ Maxx, PacSun, Free People Movement and several other retailers have signed leases and will soon inhabit the shopping hub.
