A police officer was shot in the head in the Bronx in New York City on Thursday night (October 9, 2025), The New York Post reported, citing sources. Law enforcement sources told NY Post that the officer was struck near Paulding Avenue and East Gun Hill Road just before 10:30 p.m. One suspect was taken into custody, sources added.
The officer’s condition is not immediately clear. “Due to a police investigation, please avoid the area of Paulding Avenue and East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx,” the NYPD posted on X.

The officer was struck when an individual involved in the dispute fired through the door. The cop was rushed to Jacobi Hospital and is undergoing surgery, one source told The Post. The NYPD warned New Yorkers to stay clear of the area as they investigate the crime scene.
