Mayor Zohran Mamdani is putting the pressure on Gov. Kathy Hochul as he tries to address the city’s $5.4 billion budget gap.

He’s calling on Hochul to raise taxes for wealthy New Yorkers to fill the hole in the budget — otherwise, he said, he would be forced to increase property taxes as “a last resort.”
