New York City police officers were patrolling the Hudson River when they noticed an injured bald eagle on a chunk of ice. The squawking bird was soaking wet, had blood on it, and its wings were not flapping in unison. “Something was definitely wrong,” one of the officers said. “It was definitely doing a cry for help.” They rescued the eagle and took the injured bird to a rehabilitation center in New Jersey, which is working to stabilize it to allow for further testing and treatment.
