1. Mamdani to bring back homeless encampment sweeps in amended policy
Mayor Zohran Mamdani — once a critic of homeless encampment sweeps — revealed his administration’s plans to bring them back following the deaths of 20 people during the city’s recent cold snap.
He is re-instituting the policy of removing tents and makeshift shelters on the street, a practice he vowed to stop before he took office.
2. NYU Langone ends transgender youth health program
A major Manhattan hospital will no longer offer gender-related care for minors amid mounting pressure from the Trump administration.
A spokesperson for NYU Langone Health announced that the hospital would discontinue its transgender youth health program, in part, due to “the current regulatory environment.”
