CITYWIDE – A STORM SYSTEM currently moving through Canada could deliver as much as a foot of snow to New York City this weekend, but forecast models were still inconclusive on Thursday, according to Fox 5 Weather. Depending on various factors, the storm could track along the coast of New England, or head out to sea.

The National Weather Service predicts a 50% chance of snow falling in the city on Sunday. The greatest chance is that the metropolitan area sees only a few inches, but as much as a foot is possible.

“A coastal low is really what’s going to determine what happens,” said meteorologist Liv Johnson. “If this low moves closer, that increases our chance of seeing some snowfall. If it stays further offshore, which the models are just not agreeing on right now, then our chances decrease.”
