STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s four CHSAA boys’ varsity basketball teams will all be in action over the course of the next two days as playoff competition heats up.

St. Peter’s (12-12), the Island’s lone AA representative, will now compete in the overall city playoffs after losing its Archdiocesan opener to Cardinal Hayes last Sunday. The No. 7-seeded Eagles will meet Brooklyn-Queens No. 6 Archbishop Molloy on Friday at St. Francis Prep in Queens (5:15 p.m.).

The winner of that elimination game will advance to the second round and play at either St. Raymond’s in the Bronx next Wednesday or St. Francis Prep next Thursday. The Eagles defeated host Molloy in Queens during the regular season.

Monsignor Farrell (14-10), St. Joseph by-the-Sea (15-9) and Moore Catholic (6-18) will each compete in the A division quarterfinals on Saturday.

The No. 9-seeded Mavericks, who slipped past No. 8 Monsignor McClancy during a play-in game on Wednesday, will take on top-seeded St. John’s Prep at Mount St. Michael in the Bronx beginning at 4:45 p.m. The Mavs dropped both regular-season games to the Red Storm.

The winner of that game will meet the Xavier-Salesian victor in the semifinals at St. Raymond’s on Tuesday (time TBA).

The No. 2 Lions and No. 3 Vikings, meanwhile, will both be competing at Xaverian HS in Brooklyn. Sea will square off against No. 6 Fordham Prep at 4:30 while Farrell takes on No. 7 St. Edmund’s at 6:15 p.m.

Both the Lions and Vikings split their regular-season matchups against their quarterfinal opponents.

Interestingly, if both Farrell and Sea win Saturday, they’ll meet a third and final time in the A division semis on Tuesday at St. Raymond’s (time TBA). That contest would be a rubber match as the Lions and Vikings split their regular-season encounters.
