New York Fashion Week wrapped up earlier this week, with designers across the city unveiling their fall collections.

It was a week of trend spotting and celebrity sightings, with runway shows and events taking place at venues throughout the five boroughs.

To break down what stood out this season, Glamour Editor-in-Chief Samantha Barry joined “Mornings On 1” Thursday to talk about the biggest trends to emerge from the catwalk.

One of the most prominent looks was “quiet luxury,” an understated aesthetic that showed up “from deep gowns to just a blazer with jeans,” said Barry.

Color also made a bold statement this season.

“Red was big on a lot of the runways,” Barry said.

And when it came to accessories, one item in particular stood out.

“This season it was all about the brooches,” Barry said. “Get all the brooches out.”

She added that embracing runway trends doesn’t have to mean buying a whole new wardrobe.

“If you don’t want to buy something new and you want to get involved in the trends that are on the catwalk, we saw a lot of brooches,” she said.
