POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women’s basketball team (8-18, 8-9 MAAC), led by 23 points from Elisa Solé Sanchez, put together their third consecutive win, this time against the Red Foxes from Marist (10-18, 7-11 MAAC) by a final score of 66-61 in overtime inside McCann Arena on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Newcomer Tatianna Collins got the scoring started after a hook shot fell through the bottom of the net.
Solé Sanchez connected on her first three point shot of the night to give the Jaspers an 8-6 lead midway through the opening quarter.
Marist ripped off a 13-2 run down the final five and a half minutes of the frame, giving the Red Foxes a nine point advantage through 10 minutes.
Manhattan responded with nine unanswered points to kick off the second quarter and tie the game, with Hana Mühl collecting four herself.
Later falling behind 24-21, this time it was 12 straight points from the Green and White, with Solé Sanchez upping her point total to 16 in that process.
Ciara Croker from the Red Foxes cut the deficit to seven just before the halftime break, with the score standing at 33-26 in favor of the visitors.
Continuing the game of runs, Manhattan came out of the locker room firing, extending their lead to a game-high 16 points after Colette Mulderig accumulated her first four points of the night.
Those would be the last Jasper points the entire third frame, as Marist then responded with 13 unanswered to trim the margin to three at the third quarter buzzer.
Mulderig and Agar Farrés Garcia kicked off the fourth by putting the lead back to six at the eight minute mark.
With under five minutes to play in regulation, the two sides began trading baskets, with Manhattan going up three and then one on five straight possessions.
Solé Sanchez scored her 20th and 21st points on a driving layup with 19 seconds remaining.
On a stepback move, Marist’s Lexie Tarul sunk a game-tying three point shot to knot the score at 59 with three seconds on the clock.
Brianna Davis missed a potential buzzer-beater on a running jumper to force the extra period.
Justine Henry drained both of her free throws with 1:13 to play, as the Jaspers held the lead 62-61.
After Davis and Farrés Garcia each hit a chance from the stripe to increase that lead to three, Marist took the ball back at halfcourt with 20 seconds to go.
Tarul aimed to do the same move that forced the first overtime in an attempt to play a second, but the shot caught nothing but air as Solé Sanchez iced the game with free throws with 1.9 to play.
