In the midst of the dreary winter blues, one of the best ways to brighten our day is with a little treat from our favorite fast food restaurant. And everyone knows February is the perfect month for those desserts because not only can you get chocolate Valentine’s Day-inspired items, but also a taste of the St. Patrick’s Day favorites to come.

Shortly after Dairy Queen brought back its fan-loved Red Velvet Cake Blizzard, it announced its beloved St. Patrick’s Day creation is returning, too.

Dairy Queen’s Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat Is BackDairy Queen / Allrecipes

DQ’s Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat is officially back—and well before March 17.

The iconic green dessert is filled with Oreo cookie pieces and mint topping blended in Dairy Queen’s signature vanilla soft serve. The minty Blizzard is loaded with texture and chocolaty cookies and cream flavor thanks to the real Oreo pieces.

While Dairy Queen typically offers a chocolate-mint Blizzard for the Irish holiday, the Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat was missing from menus for five years, as the chain released other seasonal desserts, like the Mint Brownie Blizzard or the St. Patrick’s Day Under the Rainbow Shake. But last year, DQ finally brought back the Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat—and now it’s returning once again. Dairy Queen seems to know how just beloved this flavor combo is because this year the Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat is DQ’s March Blizzard of the Month.

DQ is also introducing a brand-new minty creation: the Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone. It’s a St. Patrick’s twist on the viral Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone and features Dairy Queen’s signature soft serve dipped in a green mint-flavored cone coating with chocolate cookie crumbles. And this new cone will be available starting Feb. 23.

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and Oreo Shamrock McFlurry have already hit menus nationwide. So, it seems this St. Patrick’s Day season will be a battle of the minty Oreo sundaes—though we’d venture a bet that DQ’s working ice cream machines will be a point in the chain’s favor.

Dairy Queen’s Mint Oreo Blizzard Treat will only be available for a limited time this March. Or, hear us out Dairy Queen, maybe the minty Blizzard joins the other Oreo desserts on the full-time menu. We wouldn’t mind alternating between classic Oreo and Mint Oreo every time we hit the drive-thru.
