1. Tentative deal reached in NewYork-Presbyterian nurses strike

Thousands of nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian could return to work next week after their union and the hospital system reached a tentative agreement overnight Friday to end a month-and-a-half-long strike.

The New York State Nurses Association said about 4,200 of its members reached the deal following what it described as a historic strike. Union members are scheduled to vote on ratification beginning Friday. If approved, nurses would return to work next week.

2. State Senate assembles ‘working group’ to push Hochul on ICE reforms

Gov. Kathy Hochul revealed last month that she supports restricting state coordination with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but some state lawmakers and advocates want her to go further and emulate New York City’s sanctuary policies.

State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins quietly assembled a working group of state Senate Democrats to craft proposals that would limit information sharing between state and local governments and federal officials, similar to restrictions already in place in New York City, NY1 has learned.

3. Gov. Hochul heads to D.C. for National Governors Association meeting

Gov. Kathy Hochul traveled to Washington, D.C. on Thursday as the National Governors Association meeting kicked off.

The annual event, which brings together governors from across the country, has been marred by controversy. President Donald Trump uninvited two Democratic governors from a White House dinner, causing partisan strife to swallow the traditionally bipartisan event.
