Update: Delays continue, but the fire has been extinguished, according to a post from the MTA at 8:32 a.m.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A track fire was extinguished in Grasmere but delays continue on the Staten Island Railway during the Friday morning rush hour.

Trains heading to St. George are running behind schedule, according to an alert from the MTA.

The incident was called at 8:09 a.m. in the vicinity of the Grasmere train station on Clove Road between Hillcrest Terrace and Giles Place, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY and EMS.

No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control in less than a half-hour, at 8:27 a.m., the spokesperson said.
