Sir David Beckham has hailed his son Cruz as “fiercely loyal” amid the family’s ongoing feud with his older brother Brooklyn.

The former footballer said Cruz was also “kind” and “considerate” in a social media post on Friday to mark his 21st birthday.

Sir David’s eldest son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, publicly attacked his family last month, saying he did not want to “reconcile” with his father and Lady Beckham.

Cruz, a musician, is the couple’s youngest son and leads a band called The Breakers.

In the post, Sir David wrote: “Not so little anymore but the proudest thing that I am of you is the person and man that you have become, you are kind, considerate and fiercely loyal to your family, friends and everyone around you which makes you a very special person.

“You are on your own journey in life and you are working hard and having fun which is what life is all about… We love you Cruzie and hope you have the most amazing day because you deserve to.”

Peltz Beckham announced in a social media post in January that he did not want to “reconcile” with his family, having accused his parents of prioritising “Brand Beckham” over all else and controlling narratives in the press.

In the posts, he claimed his mother “hijacked” his first dance at his wedding with an “inappropriate” display that left him “uncomfortable and humiliated”.

He also accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped”.

Tensions between the Beckhams and their son and his wife started in 2022 following the couple’s marriage, when controversy swirled over Peltz not wearing a Lady Beckham-designed wedding dress.

In his January post, Peltz Beckham said: “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”

Earlier this month, DJ Fat Tony told ITV’s This Morning that Marc Anthony, the singer, asked for “the most beautiful woman in the room” to come to the stage at the wedding.

Guests were said to have believed it was for Peltz’s first dance with Peltz Beckham, but instead Lady Beckham was then called to the stage and asked to dance with her son, prompting Peltz to leave the room in tears.

Anthony later told The Hollywood Reporter that claims around Peltz Beckham’s feud with his family were “hardly the truth”.
