Luix German, also known as LouButtah, is a New York rapper and singer who was born and raised in the South Bronx. His lyrics capture the essence of his city. Hip-hop music from the late 1990s and early 2000s influenced him early on and gave him the idea to transform legendary voices into his own unvarnished, genuine expression.
The story of LouButtah starts on Courtlandt Avenue, deep in the Bronx projects, where lessons were more difficult for most people to learn and life moved quickly. At the age of eleven or twelve, he began rapping. Music served as his lifeline, a means of escape from the turmoil, suffering, and ongoing dangers of loss and betrayal that came with living on the streets. He carried a burden of absence as friends vanished into the system, others were harmed, and still others drifted away. Throughout it all, music served as his outlet, his therapy, and the prism through which he viewed the world.
For years, LouButtah has been living with one foot in the streets and the other in his music, never quite able to commit fully but always coming back to the studio, the pen, and the mic. Over the years, he has been able to not only write and spit his own rhymes but also produce, mix, and direct his own tracks, giving him complete control over his sound and vision. His sound is a combination of the emotional honesty of Rod Wave, the melodic street tales of Polo G, and the pure introspection of NoCap.
One of the biggest breaks that LouButtah received was with the record “Ima Savage,” which was produced in collaboration with local up-and-coming talent Bouba Savage, who at the tender age of 12 was instrumental in the writing, recording, and directing of the video. The video ended up with over 1 million views on YouTube.
Every track that LouButtah makes is a story of struggle, survival, and coming up in the Bronx projects, losing friends to the system or the streets, and the strength it takes to overcome it all. Music is more than just noise to him; it’s therapy, it’s a story, and it’s a reflection of the life he has lived. Every track is a part of his story, mixing the harsh realities of life with the melodies of his emotions.
However, LouButtah has moved his talent to South Beach, Miami, and brought the unfiltered energy of the Bronx to the new platforms. Performing live, building his fan base, and networking with other artists and fans, he is reaching out to more people while remaining committed to the stories and the sound that make him who he is. Miami has become a new canvas for his artistic expression, where he gets to share his music with a growing fan base that hungers for authenticity and real-life stories.
Looking forward to the year 2026, LouButtah is soon to drop his long-awaited album, A Bronx Tale. Born from the inspiring quote, “The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.” Although there has been no official release date set, this album is sure to explore his story in a way that has never been done before, giving listeners a raw look at life in the Bronx and beyond through his eyes.
As LouButtah continues to grow and share his music with the world, he is still dedicated to being the voice of New York’s true sound – gritty, real, and full of heart. His music is more than just songs; it is a story, a testament, and a reflection of the Bronx – of where he came from, what he went through, and the pride of how far he has come.
