A dirty problem is stinking up neighborhoods everywhere in the city.
Too many dog owners are not cleaning up after their pets – creating an obstacle course on the sidewalk.
Since the snowstorm on Jan. 25, complaints about dog waste left in the streets seem to be on the rise.
“It’s been really bad and it’s just getting worse I feel like,” said Nick, a Sunset Park resident. “I don’t know if people thought maybe the snow would melt it away or it would be covered but that obviously is not what happened.”
Residents near 49th Street in Sunset Park have also deemed the area one of the poopiest areas in Brooklyn.
Not only is it a hassle to watch your every step, but it’s giving dogs and their pet owners a bad reputation.
“I had a guy come up to me and say that he thinks dogs should be banned from the city,” said one dog owner.
In the city, it’s a $250 fine for people who don’t scoop up the poop, but of course that’s if people are caught in the act.
The issue is not just in Sunset Park – it’s been the topic of discussion all over Brooklyn.
