The FDNY says a car and a manhole caught fire in Cypress Hills.

Firefighters responded to 57 Shepherd Ave. just after 12:45 p.m. Friday.

The gray Acura SUV and a manhole nearby were seen ablaze. The Acura was left charred, with a shattered windshield.

Sparks and flames shot from a wooden pole above the Acura, surrounded by thick smoke.

“My wife called me. I imagined the house burning, and I felt my heartbeat was gonna kind of explode. I was so scared I just ran,” said Alex Valencia, who owns a house nearby.

The fire was contained just over two hours later and no one was injured, the FDNY says.

Con Edison crews were on scene, seemingly making repairs.

News 12 reached out to Con Ed and is awaiting a response.
