NEW YORK (PIX11) — Andrew Rein, President of the Citizens Budget Commission, sits down with PIX11 to discuss Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s preliminary budget proposal for New York City.

When it comes to shrinking the city’s budget deficit, Rein says the most important thing for City Hall to do is restructure the city’s spending habits entirely, and he says a “one-shot” fix will never keep New York City on track financially.

Rein also agrees with the Mayor’s opponents that tax hikes of any kind are not the right move, but he agrees with the Mayor in focusing on inefficiencies in the city government’s spending.
