A new Sichuan-style restaurant has officially launched along the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza as Jersey City’s Shanway Chengdu Kitchen is open of business.
The newest eatery to hit the city’s dining scene is at 189 Newark Avenue, taking over space formerly occupied by Miso Ramen. Shanway brings authentic Sichuan flavors to their casual, laid-back setting, headlined by a few of the signature dishes like a Chengdu-Style Golden Fish or a live-simmered shrimp and vermicelli pot in a savory garlic sauce that is finished tableside.

Some more unique spins on Sichuan-style dishes on the menu include a stir-fried, freshly sliced brisket wok-seared with a dried chili blend. Black truffle chow mein is featured on the menu, as are some desserts like snow silk tofu pudding or ice cream with brown sugar mochi.
Shanway Chengdu Kitchen is a BYOB affair for those dining in, and online ordering is available for customers via ChowBus.
The restaurant’s hours run from 11:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily, with a 9:30 p.m. closing on Friday and Saturday nights.
