CAROGA LAKE, N.Y. (WNYT) – Police are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash that happened on Friday night.

According to New York State Police, it happened around 11:10 p.m. at 253 County Road 111 in Caroga Lake.
Police say Stephen J. Banks, 54, was riding the snowmobile when he lost control around a turn and hit a tree. Members of the Caroga Lake Fire Department performed life-saving measures on Banks before he was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital and pronounced dead.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
