TOWN OF LOWVILLE, New York (WWNY) – A crash in Lewis County sent at least 6 people to area hospitals Friday afternoon.
It happened on Route 26 in the town of Lowville at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police on the scene said a pickup truck and a military van collided head-on.
The jaws of life were used to free people from the wreckage of both vehicles.
Officials said 4 people in the pickup truck and 2 people in the van were taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown and Lewis County General Hospital.
The roads in the area are described as icy and snow-covered.
Route 26 between Sharp and Patten roads is closed to traffic.
