NEW YORK (PIX11) — Alternate side parking is suspended on Monday due to the nor’easter expected to dump up to two feet of snow in New York City, officials said.

The parking meters, however, will still be in effect.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has also issued a travel ban in New York City beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday and ending at noon on Monday.

A state of emergency has been declared for New York City, meaning highways and bridges will be closed to all vehicles.

“We are asking New Yorkers to avoid all non-essential travel,” Mamdani said.

New York City and Long Island are under a blizzard warning from Sunday morning until Monday morning, with 18 to 24 inches of snow possible for much of the region, PIX11 meteorologists say.

The governors of New York and New Jersey issued states of emergency ahead of the snowstorm, which is also expected to bring wind gusts up to 55 mph. Officials urged residents to stay home and off the roads.
