Just a month after the first heavy snowstorm, Pelham began preparing for a second blow beginning Sunday morning through Monday evening.
According to an email from Alex Wolff at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Pelham schools will be closed on Monday due to “anticipated impacts” from the storm.
The Village of Pelham declared a Storm Emergency Saturday afternoon in a notice to residents, restricting parking on Village streets from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. until Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. to ensure a smooth removal of snow. Vehicles should be parked in driveways, or other off-street locations unless a designated parking-permit spot. The Village of Pelham Manor also urged residents to avoid street parking to allow safe plowing of the roads, while also noting sidewalks will be plowed due to heavy snowfall.
Garbage collection will be postponed in the Village of Pelham, but currently remains on schedule according to the Pelham Manor’s newsletter. Residential Collection in the Village in Area A will be collected on Wednesday, while collection in Area B will occur on Thursday. Apartment & Commercial Collection will happen on Wednesday through Friday. Bulk Collection and Recycling will be delayed until the following week.
Although Pelham itself did not issue a travel ban, Westchester County declared a temporary travel ban beginning from 9:00 p.m. on Sunday through 10:00 a.m. on Monday due to “hazardous winter weather conditions.”
