The Princess of Wales made her much-anticipated return to the BAFTA awards on Sunday night – and she looked just as glamorous as expected.

Kate, 44, walked the red carpet at London’s Royal Festival Hall with her husband Prince William, recycling a soft mauve and pink Gucci gown from 2019 with her brunette locks in loose waves over her shoulders.

She looked every inch the perfect Princess – and the look was completed with a very sentimental detail. To accessorise, Kate chose the stunning Greville Chandelier earrings, which once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The dazzling design features multiple diamonds set in platinum, and the pair was originally owned by Margaret Greville, who gave them their name. When Margaret died, they were passed on to the Queen Mother, who gifted them to Princess Elizabeth on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947.

The jewels were beloved by the Queen, who wore them to the Royal Variety Performance in 1952. Kate has ensured that their legacy lives on, and they were seen once again at the 2023 Diplomatic Corps reception and last year’s Royal Variety show.

Jewellery fit for a Queen!

The Princess of Wales is known to have several meaningful pieces of jewellery in her collection, many of which belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

For example, Kate inherited some of the Queen’s most valuable jewels, including the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, estimated to be worth around £66.3 million.

On Remembrance Sunday in 2023, she was seen in Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond and Pearl Leaf brooch, which experts believe is valued at approximately £40,000. And in the Coronation portraits that year, she wore Queen Elizabeth’s George VI Festoon Necklace.

Prince William’s bride marked a royal first when she wore the late Queen’s Cartier Halo tiara on her wedding day in 2011. The breathtaking tiara includes a total of 739 brilliant diamonds and 149 baton diamonds, dating back to 1936.

Kate’s dazzling BAFTAs return

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a glitzy return to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards on Sunday night as they walked the red carpet alongside celebrity guests.

It was the first time Kate had attended the ceremony in three years due to her cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment plan and coverage.

The surprise appearance marked a busy weekend for the Princess, as she also made a solo outing on Saturday to Twickenham to watch England take on Ireland in the Six Nations.

William and Kate’s attendance came amid a tense week for the royal family following the arrest of William’s uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, over allegations of misconduct in public office.
