Air and other travel was paralyzed in New York City and throughout the Northeast after a massive nor’easter pummeled the tri-state with heavy snow and high winds, leading to accumulation totals above 2 feet.
LaGuardia, JFK and Newark airports are resuming departures and arrivals in a phased approach. The airports had no flights in or out on Monday, and the last departure had been just before 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The ripple effect is real: Almost half the daily flights were canceled at each of those airports on Tuesday. Travelers are bracing for long lines and serious headaches. Similar woes affect much of the Northeast.
