There’s been a lot of talk about the New York Giants adding more explosiveness to their offense this offseason, as the goal to surround second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart with as many weapons as possible has been made clear.

That will likely be done, but another question must also be answered, the one about the status of two existing offensive stars who are rehabbing from serious leg injuries this offseason.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) and running back Cam Skattebo (lower leg, ankle) are both in the midst of working their way back from those injuries suffered early on last season.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen, speaking to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday morning, updated the world on the status of the team’s key offensive weapons.

“I feel good about where those two are in their rehab,” Schoen said. “I’ve been texting with (Nabers) over the last couple of days, and he’s in a good spot. He feels good. The plan is hopefully for him to be ready for training camp.

“Again, don’t hold me to it. Things change. You guys have done this to me before. I’ve learned my lesson. Every patient reacts differently, and you know, hopefully, there are no setbacks. The plan is for him to be ready to go for training camp.”

There has been some concern that Nabers would not be ready for camp and could open the year on the PUP list. Skattebo has been working out like mad to get himself back into the fray as well.

Neither will preclude the Giants from adding more firepower on offense this offseason. The main question is whether the team can re-sign impending free agent wideout Wan’Dale Robinson. His services are expected to draw the interest of many suitors and may be out of the Giants’ price range.
