Police arrested a man after responding to a reported domestic dispute at a Penn Yan hotel.
Mitchell A. Pringle, 38, of Staten Island, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after officers said he violated an order of protection and prevented a victim from leaving a vehicle with two children inside.
Officers responded to a 911 call around 1:33 a.m. Feb. 11 for an ongoing domestic incident. Police said the suspect left the area in a vehicle before officers arrived, while the victim remained on the phone with dispatchers and was not allowed to exit the vehicle.
The vehicle was later located in Elmira. An investigation found the victim and two children were protected under an order of protection against Pringle, according to police.
Pringle was charged with first- and second-degree criminal contempt, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, petit larceny and second-degree harassment.
Police also discovered Pringle had an outstanding warrant from Massachusetts after being indicted for cocaine trafficking.
He was arraigned in Yates County CAP Court and held without bail due to two prior felony convictions. He is also being held as a fugitive from justice pending an extradition hearing.
