Southampton hit Queens Park Rangers for five at St Mary’s after a ruthless, professional display. Sainstmarching.com notes that several Saints delivered standout performances.
Finn Azaz curled in from range early to set the tone. As Rangers chased a leveller, Taylor Harwood-Bellis headed against the post on 38 minutes. Kuryu Matsuki then nodded in Léo Scienza’s corner just before the interval.
Moments after the restart, Matsuki pounced on a rebound from Scienza’s shot to make it three. Scienza added the fourth with a low strike that crept in off the far post.
James Bree rounded off the scoring with a fine effort from the edge of the area for 5-0.
Daniel Peretz commanded his box and handled high balls calmly. Harwood-Bellis excelled at both ends, while Bree, Azaz and Cyle Larin impressed throughout.
In midfield, Flynn Downes and Caspar Jander were assertive, and Ryan Manning steadied after a testing first half. The result lifts Southampton to seventh in the Championship, four points adrift of the play-off places.
