Former President Joe Biden will be coming to Syracuse University in April for a special portrait unveiling, the university confirmed to Spectrum News 1 Tuesday evening.

The 46th U.S. president will be vising his Alma Mater on Tuesday, April 14. It will be an invitation-only event.

Biden graduated from SU’s College of Law in 1968. Syracuse is also where he met his first wife, Neilia, a native of Skaneateles, who died in a car crash shortly after Biden’s election to a Delaware U.S. Senate seat in 1972.

This will be Biden’s first post-presidency visit to Central New York. He visited the city and region several times during his White House tenure, most recently in April 2024 to celebrate a $6.1 billion deal with Micron for the chip manufacturer to build the megafab in Clay.

He also spoke at Syracuse’s College of Law commencement while he was vice president.
