WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An arrest was made Wednesday in connection with a shooting involving law enforcement in Manhattan.
A 38-year-old man from Manhattan was arrested on a warrant for two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. He had just been released from the KU Medical Center after being treated for his injuries.
The shooting happened on Jan. 3, when deputies with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office were responding to a report of a shed and garage being damaged by gunfire.

While deputies were talking to the homeowner, the KBI said they heard more shots and went to the home they were coming from.
The deputies started giving commands to the shooter, who then came out of the house with a handgun, according to authorities. One of the deputies fired multiple times, hitting the man, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
KSN does not name people believed to be involved in crimes until they have been charged. The Pottawatomie County attorney is expected to handle the prosecution.
