THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 17-year-old student was busted with a loaded gun in a Bronx charter school on Wednesday, officials said.
The teen was busted after walking through the metal detectors at Bronx Prep Charter School at 3872 Third Ave., according to the NYPD.

The student was taken into custody, and the charges were pending.
A spokesperson for the Bronx Prep High School released a statement to PIX11 News, which read in part:
Due to our safety protocols and procedures, this weapon did not make it past arrival security. We treat this matter with the utmost seriousness.
