IOWA CITY, Iowa — Grundy Center’s Emerson Vokes left no doubt at the Class 2A state qualifier at the Iowa City Kickers Soccer Park, cruising to victory by 30 seconds with a time of 15:49.6. The senior dominated from start to finish and barely looked winded crossing the line.
On the girls side, Mid-Prairie’s Brooklyn Stutzman led a strong field, pulling away late to win with a 19:18.8 finish. West Marshall’s Addie Thompson and Grundy Center’s Grace Storjohann rounded out the top three. Mid-Prairie placed second as a team with 47 points — just three behind the leader — while Grundy Center secured its own state berth, finishing third with 103 points.
