WILMINGTON — The North Carolina Azalea Festival has announced film, television, and stage actress Elaine Hendrix will reign as the 2026 Queen Azalea.
Having previously visited the festival as a celebrity guest, the Tennessee-native Hendrix returns to Wilmington in the distinguished role of Queen Azalea and will be officially crowned on April 8 at 3 p.m. aboard the iconic Battleship North Carolina.
Hendrix has performed in “The Parent Trap,” “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” and “Superstar,” while also contributing to major franchises including “Get Smart,” “Inspector Gadget,” “The Munsters,” and “Resident Evil.” Television audiences recognize her as Alexis Carrington from “Dynasty,” as well as her appearances in hit series such as “Friends,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Criminal Minds.” Hendrix recently reunited with her “The Parent Trap” co-star Lindsay Lohan in “Freakier Friday” and showcased her versatility as a finalist on this past season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Hendrix’s creative reach extends to the stage and beyond, with stage credits including “Hello, Dolly!,” “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “Steel Magnolias.” Hendrix is also an award-winning advocate for animal rights, LGBTQ+ equality, women’s rights, and environmental justice.
Next, Elaine will join the DWTS Tour from March through May and appear at Dancing with the Stars Con, the first-ever official fan convention for the hit series, taking place July 31 through August 2.
As Queen Azalea, Hendrix will take part in many of the festival’s signature events, including the Celebrity Reception, Airlie Garden Party, Bluewater After Garden Get Down, Queen’s Dance Party, Parade, and appearances at the Street Fair Performing Arts Stage, helping create unforgettable moments for attendees throughout the week.
