NYPD Officer Michael Izzo, 42, was laid to rest with honors Sunday in Suffolk County.
Izzo, who served on the Quality of Life Team in the 111th Precinct, died Feb. 10, two days after he was in a collision in Greenlawn, LI, while he was driving off duty in his personal vehicle.
Izzo, a Huntington resident, joined the NYPD in December 2021.
“Rest in heavenly peace …” the Police Benevolent Association posted on social media. “You will never be forgotten by your peers, friends, and family.”
In a press release, the Suffolk County Police Department said the crash took place at 3:19 a.m. Izzo was traveling east at an intersection in his Honda CRV when the car collided with a northbound Toyota Tundra.
Police said the other driver was not injured. The case remains under investigation.
