HOBOKEN, New Jersey (WABC) — PATH service in and out of Hoboken has been suspended following a track fire on Friday.

The Hoboken Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at the Hoboken PATH station earlier in the day.

Officials say the fire was quickly put out, but the station has been closed as a result, impacting service to several PATH lines.

PATH service between Hoboken and the World Trade Center, and Hoboken and 33rd Street will remain suspended through the evening, according to officials.

Service between Newark and World Trade Center, and Journal Square to 33rd Street are operating.

PATH directed impacted customers to alternative modes of transportation.

New Jersey Transit Rail is cross-honoring ticket holders at Newark, Hoboken and Secaucus. New York Waterway is also cross-honoring customers between Hoboken and Brookfield Place.

“Service will resume immediately once their work is completed and conditions are safe for operation,” PATH said in an update on social media.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
