With the strikes in the Middle East continuing a Connecticut war hero is sending a message of comfort to the families of U.S. service members deployed overseas.
Wally McNulty is a 94-year-old highly decorated combat veteran from Darien.Â
At the age of 13 McNulty enlisted into the military bypassed the age restriction by using an alias.
McNulty served in both the Korean War and World War II.
His bravery didn’t end when he returned home. In 1961, while working as a New York City bus driver, McNulty ran into a burning building and rescued 30 people.
McNulty says he wants military families to know that warfare has changed dramatically since his day, doing a much better job of shielding boots on the ground.
