BROOKLYN — The Village of Brooklyn in Jackson County will receive a state road grant to repair Monroe Street.
The grant is part of the Community Service Infrastructure Fund program for small cities and villages.
The program helps towns with fewer than 10,000 people pay for local road work when other funding is limited. Money is awarded by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Brooklyn will receive $250,000 for the Monroe Street project. The work will focus on extending the useful life of the roadway through resurfacing or similar preservation work.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the grants are part of a larger state push to invest nearly $2 billion each year in state and local road repairs. Officials say the grants support safer travel and help communities complete projects that might otherwise be delayed.
More information on the grants is available on MDOT’s Category B website.
