West Seneca, N.Y.- The Niagara women’s bowling team won all four of their traditional matches today at the WNY Cup. The Purple Eagles finish in first place in this one day tournament. 

Head Coach Jeff Walsh picked up his 200th win after defeating Roberts Wesleyan in the first match of the day.

Kate Ackerman earned all tournament honors and was named the tournament MVP with a total pinfall of 1049 through all five games (Fourth game counted was a BYE).

Game 1: Niagara 929, Roberts Wesleyan 824

The Purple Eagles started off hot with a game one win versus the Redhawks with a 105-pin advantage. Kate Ackerman led the team with a 199 followed by a 197 from Dakota Collins.

Game 2: Niagara 881, Hilbert 839

Niagara defeated Hilbert in the second game by a slim margin of 42-pins. Kate Ackerman matched her game one tally with another solid score of 199. Abbie Derby added a 189 to help lead the Purple and White to victory.

Game 3: Niagara 1082, D’Youville 823

The Purple and White won game three with a convincing 259-pin advantage to capture their third win of the day. Emily Brock and Kate Ackerman led the scoring in this game bowling 258 and 256 respectively.

Game 4: Niagara 965, BYE –

Emily Brock and Sydney Skimmer led the team in scoring in the BYE game, scoring 239 and 234 respectively.

Game 4: Niagara 1038, Daemen 1011

Three Niagara bowlers scored over 200 with Jocelyn Smith scored a 232, Ackerman with a 216, and Abbie Derby with a 215, in a close victory versus the Wildcats in a 27-pin difference to capture their fourth and final win of the day.
