CLINTON, S.C. – For the fourth consecutive season, the Presbyterian College softball team will compete against the Queens Royals as the Blue Hose return home from a successful weekend in Georgia. Tomorrow’s doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 and will be streamed on ESPN+.

PC has gone up against Queens in Clinton, Charlotte, and even a neutral site game in Rock Hill last year which was a 5-2 victory for the Scotsmen in eight innings.

Head coach David Williams – fresh off his 150th win at Presbyterian yesterday – has defeated the Royals in four of the last five attempts.

The Blue Hose managed a 5-1 record last week to now sit at 11-7, shutting out North Carolina A&T in their most recent home appearance. They blew out Mercer on Sunday afternoon with a 12-2 mercy rule.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS

– Queens is led by third-year head coach and former Division II All-American Kella Armstrong, currently at 3-9 after winning 16 games a season ago.

– The Royals were a one-and-done exit in the ASUN Tournament last May (falling to Lipscomb), with their three victories thus far against Tennessee Tech, Lehigh, and Marist.

– After beating the Red Foxes on Saturday by a 7-1 clip, Queens ran into a nationally-ranked opponent less than 24 hours later and was swept by #22/19 South Carolina.

– Odds are that Presbyterian will see a steady dose of Addison Kluck as the opposing pitcher, a true freshman who has already thrown 44.2 innings.

– Two-way graduate student Lindsay Henson is Queens’ most powerful hitter, already with seven home runs and five doubles which translates to a slugging percentage above 1,000.

LAST TIME OUT

– PC excelled on both sides of the ball at the Mercer invite, producing two straight shutouts for the first time since 2023 against Columbia and Tennessee State before then beating the host school by 10 runs.

– Coach Williams, who is already Presbyterian’s D-I wins leader, notched his 150th victory in convincing fashion over an opponent that advanced to an NCAA Regional Championship game last spring.

– The Blue Hose are on pace for one of their best defensive seasons ever, leading the Big South with a staff ERA of 3.04. Junior Avery Robinson is the centerpiece, winning three games over a five-day span.

– Robinson and Peyton Duncan combined for 32 strikeouts last week, with the former being one of just 25 pitchers in America to have multiple shutouts in 2026.

– Presby is averaging nearly six K’s per seven innings (another number that leads the conference). They have manufactured 87 total runs, the fourth-most in the league.

– Freshman Hali Duke has the highest average on the roster (.426), leading the way with six doubles, 16 RBI, and a pair of homers.
