On March 1, 2026, at approximately 2:32 a.m., troopers assigned to the New York State Police Hawthorne barracks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
During the stop, the operator, identified as Josefina Parades-Leocadio, 45, of Elmsford, New York, displayed signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which Parades-Leocadio subsequently failed. Further investigation revealed that two children, ages 12 and 14, were in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Parades-Leocadio was taken into custody and transported to SP Hawthorne for processing, where she submitted a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.22%. The children were safely released to a sober third party.
As a result of the investigation, Parades-Leocadio was charged with the following:

Parades-Leocadio was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Greenburgh Court on April 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
